2011 world team announced

after a long wait (playing twitter trivia with fellow gym fans) USA gymnastics finally announced the world team:
Jordyn Wieber
Alicia Sacramone
Aly Raisman
Mckayla Maroney
Gabrielle Douglas
Anna Li
Sabrina Vega
(i assume she will be chosen as the alternate)

pan ams team is:
Bridgey Caquatto
Jessie DeZiel
Shawn Johnson
Chellsie Memmel
Bridget Sloan
Brandie Jay

I find it very wierd that they went with two bars specialists, both who have shown inconsistency. I had expected only one of them, and then Memmel, Sloan, or Johnson would be the last, but i guess the injury to Macko left them without a good bar worker who can also do all around. Ugh just pissed Memmel's not on it, and if she couldn't have been on it I wouldve gone with Shawn. I guess we'll see how things pan out and on the bright side they will dominate at Pan Ams

nastia liukin secret comeback?

when i saw nastia liukin's tweets i briefly considered that she may be making a comeback. i soon forgot about these thoughts until i saw this article on the gymnastics examiner, featuring the same tweets i had seen. then, on her interview at visa champs when asked if it was too late to make it back in time for the olympics, she quickly stated "thats all im gonna say about myself" and changed the subject

she also looked toned down this year compared to last and seems to have all her flexibility back
also, in an interview i apparently missed last year on international gymnast liukin says she is getting all her promotions out of the way in 2010 so she can be committed to training and competing in 2011-2012. read the article here.

all in all, these signs point to a possible comeback, however time is running out and i shouldnt be getting my hopes up too high.
